The results of a review of the series of operations carried out for tarsal tunnel syndrome and for Morton's disease in the period 1982-87 are reported. On the question of tarsal tunnel syndromes, the aetiology of some cases secondary to slackness of the subastragalic was examined and the incidence of the main symptoms at first observation specified; the following parameters were examined in postoperative control: pain, changes in skin sensitivity, cutaneo-muscular trophism. Morton's metatarsalgias were split into two group, forms with neuroma and forms without neuroma; only in the first case did operation consist of neurotomy. In the others careful neurolysis was carried out. The percentage possibility of recurrence is discussed on the basis of results.
